Come celebrate the Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood this year! Visit “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” and “Grinchmas,” which runs daily from Friday, November 26 through Sunday, January 1, 2023.
All holiday festivities are included in the price of theme park admission.
We were so happy to celebrate the holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood again! We just love visiting Universal Studios Hollywood especially during cooler months. If you’ve been waiting to visit the park, now is the perfect time. And as soon as you enter, head straight to Who-ville!
Grinchmas
If you’re a fan of the Grinch, you will LOVE how Universal Studios Hollywood turned its Plaza into a Who-bilation. Be sure to have your cameras/phones ready, because once you enter you’ll find so many photo opportunities, including Who-ville Whos …ready to chat and take selfies.
Cindy-Lou Who leads daily story time for young visitors looking to learn of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the Who-ville post office will be accepting postcards with holiday messages. Additionally, an array of sweet holiday treats and goodies like our super cute Grinch popcorn bucket, are available for purchase.
And you can’t miss the Topsy-turvy “Grinchmas” tree, twisting and turning over 65 feet in height. It’s a different feel (that you don’t want to miss) when you come back at night for their nightly tree lighting accompanied by a snowfall flurry. Look for the posted times as you enter Who-ville.
*Tip: get in line to meet with The Grinch early, the line will get longer towards the evening. And don’t forget to get in the other line to meet his faithful dog Max.*
Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
If you’ve been following my family, then you know how much we love Universal Studios Hollywood’s The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Walking through Hogsmeade (with butterbeer in our hands) is our favorite thing to do, especially at night. And every night during the Holidays you can catch the “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle” dazzling light show. The impressive light projection show will amaze you with its stunning imagery and animation as the castle infuses the land with joyous wonderment and music from the Harry Potter film series. Be sure to check the schedule for showtimes.
If you want to stay away from the crowd (it does get crowded), head to “Three Broomsticks” to grab Holiday-themed fare, don’t forget your hot butterbeer, and enjoy your meal with a show in their outdoor dining area. Be sure to bundle up! We had a great view even though it wasn’t the front of the castle.
Earlier during the day, you can watch the Acappella Frog Choir featuring Hogwarts students performing harmonized holiday themed songs.
New Year’s EVE at USH
Celebrate the new year and ring in 2023 at Universal Studios Hollywood’s festive EVE event, the biggest party in Hollywood on Saturday, December 31 with extended hours until 2:00 a.m. EVE is included in the price of theme park admission and is a special park-wide celebration that invites guests to spend the day and party by night while enjoying its popular and award-winning rides and attractions.
The party starts at 9:00 p.m. as an energetic party kicks off with multiple entertainment hubs featuring DJs spinning an eclectic array of music for guests to dance into the new year with their choice of pop, rock, hip-hop, EDM and Latin music. Iconic photo ops located around the theme park will also provide a memorable backdrop to capture and share moments from the big night.
A lively New Year’s countdown rounds out the event before a dazzling fireworks display punctuates the nighttime sky. A winter snowfall and confetti bursts also add to the festive evening within designated areas.
A selection of food and beverages, including desserts, champagne, beer, wine and cocktails, as well as memorabilia will be available for purchase. Guests must be 21+ and have a valid photo ID to purchase alcoholic beverages.
