Okay, so I’m kinda sad I won’t be getting a Mother’s Day gifts from my kids…you know, the ones they work so hard on at school. I save them every year. AND I love seeing their art progress as they get older. Pardon me as I wipe tears away.
But I’m not letting Remote Learning stop me from getting a special handmade gift. Thanks to LEGOLAND® California Resort I gave my little Master Builders a fun and creative challenge: to make a flower and vase.
LEGO Flower Challenge
Happening now on their site, there’s a “how to” video presented by a Master Model Builder at the family theme park built for kids! Model Builder Tim Sams shows kids step-by-step how to build a flower (the one below) just in time for Mother’s Day using, of course, just LEGO! Using 46 pieces of LEGO, the flower can be combined with other LEGO flowers to create a bouquet that will last a lifetime.
The LEGO flower video is a part of the Resort’s fun-filled site called LEGOLAND Building Challenge where kids and families can access instructional building videos and activities that promote learning, creating and play. All activities on the site are free and available for everyone to enjoy.

What if I don’t have the bricks?
I am super proud of my boys. They didn’t have all the bricks featured in the flower video and it didn’t stop them from building. Yes, it became a bigger challenge, but because I set a timer for one-hour…it became a fun game! They felt like they were on the LEGO Masters show. I feel these videos are for inspiration…so get those creatives juices going!
LEGOLAND Building Challenge
As families search for fun, educational activities for their kids to do during their time at home due to the Coronavirus, LEGOLAND® California Resort has created an online site that is filled with instructional videos and activities that promote learning, creating and play. Through the Resort’s website, kids and families can access the new fun-filled site called “LEGOLAND Building Challenge!”
Every Wednesday, the Park that is built for kids will announce a new theme and release a new instructional “how to build” video hosted by a Master Model Builder. On Fridays, LEGOLAND will highlight builds posted by followers on the Resort’s social media sites and ask families for ideas on what the Resort’s Master Model Builders should construct next. The first instructional video on the site featured Master Model Builder PJ Catalano building a birthday cupcake in honor of the Park’s 21st birthday. “So many children are missing out on birthday parties and celebrating their birthday at the Park, so we thought a birthday theme seemed fitting as our inaugural build,” said LEGOLAND California Resort’s General Manager Kurt Stocks. In addition to the builds, the site will feature other activities including coloring pages, trivia, word games and more.
