We didn’t get chance to watch the film in theaters, did you? As fans of Mr.Rodgers, I loved the movie…it was heartwarming, nostalgic, and made me think about myself as a parent. Yup, I had tears. Since the film has an adult theme with strong language, Ronan had no interest. But Caiden, who’s 9 years old, enjoyed it. The movie opened up a great conversation about empathy with the kids. And we got crafty while talking about what made Mr.Rodgers so special.
We created puppets inspired by Mr. Rodgers’ Daniel Tiger (the kids wanted the animated version), King Friday XIII, and X The Owl! It was a lot of fun making our version of them and it definitely made my boys fans.
We used DIY canvas puppets as our base and had our iPhones with images of the beloved puppets to help guide us. For a list of things I used, visit my Amazon Store for supplies.
