Have you ever celebrated a birthday at Disneyland? Well, with the amount of money (and stress) spent on birthday parties, a visit to Disneyland is much more fun for this Disney loving family. Since we’re no longer AP holders, we make the most of our Disney trips…and what better way to celebrate two things that we love!
Disneyland Birthday
Shh. Don’t tell my kids, but Danny and I have been celebrating our birthdays at Disneyland way before they were born. Its truly a magical place to be. And once you’re there, I highly recommend adding the MAXPASS to your tickets. Not only are you able to make Disney FASTPASS selections from your phone, you also get unlimited Disney PHOTOPASS photo downloads! How great is that to document your special day?! You can also ask the photographer for Magic Shots – to add a magical element in your photo!
Magical Ways to Celebrate
Character Dining
This is a great (and Magical) way to start your birthday inside the park. “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park” is a buffet style breakfast experience at Plaza Inn where beloved Disney characters come and visit you at your table. You get to munch on Mickey waffles while meeting characters that you don’t normally see at the Park!
Making reservations in advance is highly recommended.
Grab a Pin
Be sure to ask for your complimentary birthday pin when you enter the park. When you wear the pin, you’ll be getting birthday greetings throughout the day from park employees and fellow guests. You can grab one inside City Hall on Main Street or at any kiosk shop.
Dress for the Occasion
It’s fun to dress up at Disneyland, especially on your birthday! Whether its in your favorite princess costume or Marvel Superhero…there’s so many Disney options to choose from! We love to match as a family and we make every visit a different theme.
But if you’re looking for something extra MAGICAL, then the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is where you’re gonna wanna make that reservation to turn your kid into a princess or knight.
Treat Yo’self
There’s so many goodies to treat yo’self on your special day. And depending on your visit, there might be a limited-time, specialty treat that you won’t want to miss! During our recent visit, Ronan and I got the “Mickey Mouse Birthday Sundae” in celebration of #GetYourEarsOn (which ends May 27th).
But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of timeless treats like Churros, Dole Whip, and my favorite…Mickey shaped Beignets! Also, you can order a birthday cake starting at $60 to be delivered at select restaurants inside the park.
Entertainment
The park is filled with musicians and entertainers…so definitely ask them to play a birthday song! One year, Caiden participated in a musical chairs game with Alice and the Mad Hatter at the Refreshment Corner…and WON. But the best part, because he was wearing his birthday pin, they sang “Happy Birthday” to him!
For an extra MAGICAL experience, you can extend the Disney fun and spend the night at HOJO Anaheim. The hotel is just an eight-minute walk from the Disney parks and there’s a water playground that kids of all ages will love.
