Jennifer Lopez is back on the big screens in Second Act, this Holidays’ rom-com to see! It’s a romantic comedy about a woman named Maya (Lopez), who was passed up on a promotion to become the store manager at a job she’s dedicated 15 years of her life because she doesn’t have a college degree.
With the help of friends, she gets a second chance to prove that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts. But at what cost?
“The only one stopping you is you.”
Movie Review
I love a good rom-com. Without giving any spoilers away, Second Act was heartfelt, inspiring and had a message of empowerment, making it the perfect movie to welcome the New Year.
Jennifer Lopez is the queen of rom-com and I’m usually rooting for her to find love. But in this movie, I couldn’t care less about her relationship with her boyfriend Trey (Milo Ventimiglia). I was rooting for the love she’ll find within herself and her ability to show others who she truly is.
Definitely grab your mom friends for this, you’re gonna enjoy watching her and real-life bestie, Leah Remini on the big screen. They are so fun and FUNNY, especially with mom-related jokes. Scroll down to read what they said about working together.

Press Junket Interview
Earlier this month I had a chance to attend a roundtable interview to chat with Jennifer Lopez, Leah Remini, and Director Peter Segal. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Jennifer Lopez, so this was a big deal for me…thank you STX Films for having me!
In Second Act, there’s no doubt that Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini are best-friends in real life…so YES, I asked them how it was working together:
Jennifer responded with “bestie life.”
And Leah finished by saying, “a lot of it was our real life relationship and we were lucky enough to have a Director who allowed us to play. A lot of what you’re seeing was me being me and Jennifer reacting.”
Director Peter Segal shared that during their first read, Leah started throwing jokes at Jennifer, who then zinged them right back. That’s when he encouraged Remini to do that on set.
“These guys are like sisters.” – Director Peter Segal
Second Act is in theaters December 21, 2018.
