Happy Friday! Hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Now that your bellies are happy and full, kick-off the Holiday season at The L.A. Zoo Lights. From now till January 6, 2019, The Los Angeles Zoo becomes a holiday wonderland with thousands of LED lights – making one of Southern California’s largest holiday light displays.
We’ve gone for the past two years: here and here. It’s become a Holiday family tradition and every year there’s been something new to look forward to! We attended last week’s opening night and we think it gets better every year.
** Tip: I highly recommend buying tickets online to avoid the long lines and SOLD OUT tickets. Be sure to also bundle up and wear comfy shoes, it gets cold. **
Los Angeles Zoo Lights 2018
This magical holiday wonderland features a disco ball forest, whimsical 3-D animations, a glowing “Northern Lights” featuring animal constellations that come to life, and so much more!
For the first time ever, the LA Zoo Lights experience includes a picturesque Elephant Circle, transforming into a kaleidoscopic savanna where glowing, large-scale animals roam.
The ever popular Twinkle Tunnel is doubled in size and features cascading swirls of light plus a spectacular finale. Other favorites like the holiday tree at the entrance, the animated elephant herd, and the dramatic water show are all reimagined, with stunning new visuals and music. It’s truly a magical experience for the entire family to enjoy.
Animal Encounters
During the LA Zoo Lights – sections of the LA Zoo are closed off while the animals are sleeping. There are “Please Be Quite” signs, but just remind the kids. The only animals are The Lair (which is nice and warm inside) and the reindeers inside Reindeer Village.
Food
Several restaurants are open for a quick bite to eat and there’s lots of food stands throughout the zoo serving up treats for both kids and adults (I’m talking about beer and cocktails).
Happy Holidays!
