This Winter, bundle-up for a magical stroll to experience the Hanart Culture Chinese Lantern Festival. It’s happening now through January 6, 2019 at the Pomona Fairplex. This immersive event is something not to be missed.
We took the trek to the Pomona Fairplex this past Saturday and the Chinese Lantern Festival did not disappoint. It was definitely worth the drive from LA. Be sure to enter my GIVEAWAY down below!
Chinese Lantern Festival
The Chinese Lantern Festival is family-friendly and a multicultural experience – combining art, tradition, and culture. There’s over 1,000 beautifully handcrafted lanterns taking form from “The Wild,” like panda bears, jellyfish, elephants, dinosaurs and so much more! We magically traveled the world, visiting places like America, Oceania, Asia, Antarctica, and Africa to witness animals from those regions.
For the kids, there’s also dinosaur rides, bounce house, and more!
If you’re looking for a unique place to snap stunning Instagram-worthy photos — this is the place!
Performances
There’s more to see than just lanterns at the festival. You can experience a Kung Fu performance! My boys were mesmerized by the Kung Fu artists and their animal imitative-style boxing (moves similar to the Kung Fu Panda movies). It was so cool. This show is popular, so plan to get to the stage a little early for a good view. And stick around for a lesson from the performers, my boys did…and had the best time learning Kung Fu moves!
There’s also a Shadow Puppetry Show with master puppeteers from China and it’s interactive, so kids can play behind the stage, too!
Demonstrations
Located next to the Shadow Puppetry stage, is the demo area where you’ll find Chinese artisans handcrafting beautiful embroidery and dough figurines, which you’re welcome to buy as a souvenir!
