Looking for a good family scare this Halloween?! Then you’re gonna wanna head to the theaters now, because Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is bringing Halloween to life! Based on the popular children’s horror book series (of the same name) by R.L. Stein, Goosebumps 2 is the sequel to 2015’s Goosebumps movie and you’re in for a spooky treat!
Goosebumps 2 Haunted Halloween
This horror comedy takes place in a small town when two friends Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor) and Sam (Caleel Harris) find an old unfinished book in an abandoned house previously owned by R.L. Stine (Jack Black) called “Haunted Halloween.”
When they open the book, a mysterious ventriloquist’s dummy named Slappy suddenly appears and is brought to life when Sonny read the words, “Karru Marri Odonna Loma Molanu Karrano.”
Sonny and Sam, along with Sonny’s sister Sarah (Madison Iseman) have to work together to stop Slappy before he destroys the town with his Halloween Apocalypse!
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween Review
First off, I was too scared to read the Goosebumps book series, so seeing the film was a bit of a challenge for both Caiden and I. But I knew we both would enjoy a good scare together. My hope from this movie experience was to get Caiden interested in reading the books…and guess what, it worked! He tried to borrow a book from his school’s library but unfortunately it was all checked out. If anything, this says a lot about the movie!
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween has some scary yet funny comedic moments. And by scary I’m talking about the antagonist, Slappy. Sure he brings Halloween to life with monsters like a werewolf, witches, headless horseman, etc…but a walking, talking ventriloquist’s dummy is just plain scary (in my opinion). But there’s nothing gruesome in the movie, just a clean horror flick for families to enjoy a good scare – if you DARE. Oh and I can’t forget to mention the Gummy Bears! You won’t be looking at them the same way.
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween was a fun action adventure film while giving us a good a spook!
