Yay…my first craft project and post of the New Year!! I’ve been wanting to make homemade play-dough for quite some time now and finally made some today with the help of my 2 year-old son, Caiden. It was so fun and easy!
I wish I took pics of him helping but I had to focus…didn’t want any mishaps! A mommy-friend was so sweet to share this recipe with me, thanks Michelle! Hope you find time to make this project with your kid(s)…because you’ll be saying “Goodbye, store bought play-doh…Hello, Homemade.”
Ingredients:
2 cups FLOUR
2 cups WATER
1/2 cup SALT
4 tsp CREAM of TARTER
1/4 cup VEGETABLE OIL
FOOD COLORING
(optional: Fragrant Oil, Glitter)
Directions:
Mix all the DRY ingredients in a medium sauce pan. Mix water and oil in measuring cup, then ADD it to the dry ingredients. Cook on LOW heat and STIR constantly until the dough has the consistency of mash potatoes and you cannot stir anymore. Remove the dough (be careful it’s hot) and place it on a board (I just used my counter top) and divide them into equal parts based on the number of color you have (I made 3). Add your food coloring and KNEAD until it becomes smooth and color is distributed evenly. Be sure to ADD your fragrant extract and/or Glitter while you’re kneading.
*Store in an Airtight Container*
**Revised: Add your fragrant while cooking your mixture**
Have Fun!
…Think I know what we’re giving our friends for Valentine’s Day. 🙂
