Last weekend we celebrated Caiden’s second birthday with an airplane themed party at Virginia Avenue Park. It was the perfect setting because of the huge splash pad next to our room and that meant kids were guaranteed to have lots of fun…especially with the heat we’re having in LA.
Here are some pics and details from Caiden Airways, Flight 2!
Thank-you again to my talented friend, photographer Leah Minium for taking these amazing pictures.
This is was my first time making a topiary tree. 🙂
I made two Airplane Topiaries for the dessert table
using smooth foam spheres, cotton balls, wooden dowel (painted green) and I Mod-podged a map onto the clay pot. The small airplanes were plastic favors I found for 89cents for a pack of 4 that I painted (using craft paint) to create a matte finish.
How beautiful is this cake?
Emilyn Chin of Love ‘Em Sweet created this cake for me and I didn’t want to cut it! The colors matched the cake stand I made perfectly.
Both the cake and cupcakes were a huge hit with Caiden (who ate one too many) and our guests!
I managed to make 25 Banana Pudding cups 🙂

Can’t wait for Baby Levine to be here…Caiden and him are going to best friends!
Craft table:
wooden airplanes and pilot badges from Oriental Trading Company
The crafts were meant for the kids but they were too busy outside…so I’m glad the adults had fun with these!

So blessed to share our boy’s special day with friends and family.
Still can’t believe he’s 2…Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!
My little pilot
I love this! It's so creative and so whimsical. My favorite parts are the cloud backdrop and the topiary. I'm pinning this for ideas for my own boys!
Pinning this! My kiddo asked for an airplane party! This is amazing!! =)
This is such an adorable party! So creative and the details are fabulous!
Did you make the signs etc? If so, what did you use to make them. This is super cute!
Hi and Thank-you Trisha! I made the signs with Microsoft Word…I just inserted an Airplane template and played around with fonts and colors. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Any instructions on how you made the cake stand?
Hi…I used 3 Smooth Styrofoams in different sizes and hot glued ribbon around the edges. Then I used soup cans covered with paper to hold the tiers together. Hope that helped! This is a great tutorial http://www.annies-eats.com/2010/08/19/how-to-make-a-cupcake-tower/
love everything about it! where is the backdrop from?
thanks!
Thank-you…and it's from Michael's!
This is a late comment but the party is sooo cute! We're thinking of having my daughter's birthday at the same park. How did you like the room there? Were you able to put decorations up on the wall?
Thanks!
Hi! Thank you!! Really liked the room and yes you're able to put up decorations! If you book there, make sure you call/reconfirm and bring your contract to the party. We had his 3rd. birthday there a couple of months ago and the room wasn't opened…it was a nightmare! Apparently there was a glitch in the system.
Love Love this idea for my son! How did you achieve the clowd whimsical backdrop?
